Serbian Customs Seize Fake Footwear, Apparel, Accessories and Perfume
On November 11, 2017, customs officials at the Gradina border crossing point with Bulgaria seized 144 pairs of sneakers believed to infringe the Nike® trademark and 22 pairs of boots believed to infringe the Caterpillar® trademark. The goods were discovered in a bus with Turkish license plates, where they were hidden above and below passenger seats and in various bus compartments.
On November 16, 2017, while inspecting a van on the E-761 highway in south-central Serbia, customs officials seized around 200 leather and fur jackets, over 50 handbags, more than 30 pairs of shoes and over 200 bottles of perfume believed to infringe several world-famous trademarks. The van had Serbian license plates while the goods originated in Turkey.
On November 18, 2017, during the customs inspection of another van with Serbian license plates on the same highway, more than 100 tracksuits, sweatshirts and sweatpants believed to infringe the Adidas® and Nike® trademarks were seized.
