North Macedonia’s IP Delegation Visits Brussels as Part of EU Screening
Following the signing of the Prespes agreement, and as part of the screening process for EU accession negotiations that North Macedonia recently started, on February 7 and 8, 2019, a Macedonian delegation attended an explanatory meeting in Brussels regarding Chapter 7 on intellectual property law. The delegation consisted of members of the Chapter 7 working group, led by the Macedonian government representative and the director of the State Office of Industrial Property.
The delegation learned about fulfilling the necessary conditions for opening negotiations on Chapter 7. By committing to Chapter 7 negotiations, North Macedonia will commit to further aligning its IP legislation and practices with those of the EU.
