Serbian Customs Seize Fake Apparel, Footwear, Perfume

Serbian customs officials recently seized a considerable amount of apparel, footwear and perfume believed to be counterfeit.

On October 9, 2018, customs officials at the Gradina border crossing point with Bulgaria seized nearly 20 bottles of perfume believed to infringe various trademarks, including Jean Paul Gaultier®, Prada® and Kenzo®, and 10 sweaters believed to infringe the Lacoste® trademark. The goods were discovered in a bus travelling from Istanbul, Turkey to Novi Pazar in southern Serbia.

On October 12, 2018, at the Preševo border crossing point with Macedonia, customs officials seized 200 pairs of sneakers believed to infringe the Nike® trademark. The goods, which were discovered in a truck transporting goods from Turkey to Novi Pazar, were estimated to be worth approximately EUR 5,000 (USD 5,700).

The following day, on October 13, while inspecting a courier service warehouse in the town of Šabac, in western Serbia, the customs officials seized over 670 tracksuits, around 370 sweatpants, and over 80 sweatshirts and jackets believed to infringe the Nike® and Adidas® trademarks.
