Romanian Customs Seize Fake Clothes, Footwear, Perfume
Romanian customs and border police officials recently seized nearly 6,000 items of footwear, clothing and perfume believed to be counterfeit and estimated to be worth approximately EUR 87,000 (USD 106,500).
On January 6, 2018, officials at the Turnu Magurele border crossing point with Bulgaria seized 4,752 pairs of sneakers believed to infringe the Nike® trademark. The goods were discovered during the inspection of a van with Romanian license plates.
Meanwhile, on January 6 and 7, 2018, officials at the nearby Giurgiu border crossing point with Bulgaria seized 1,220 clothing items and perfumes believed to infringe various trademarks, including Prada®, Adidas®, Thierry Mugler® and Lancôme®. The goods were discovered during the inspection of several buses belonging to international transport companies. The owners of the goods were passengers who stated they had bought the goods in Turkey.
