Romanian Customs Seize EUR 3M Worth of Counterfeits
In the period December 18, 2015 – January 11, 2016, Romanian customs officials in Ploiesti, Giurgiu and Constanta, southern Romania, made several seizures of counterfeit goods, the total value of which is estimated at EUR 3 million (USD 3.25 million).
The seized products included footwear, sweaters, sweat suits, sweatpants, children’s sneakers, mobile phones and LED light bulbs believed to infringe the IP rights of UGG, Adidas, Nike, Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, New Balance and Gucci, among others.
The goods originated in Turkey and China and were intended for a Romanian company based in the capital of Bucharest and for a company located in Ukraine.
