Feb 27 2014 - 14:23

Last month in the village of Avangard, Odessa region, the Ukrainian authorities discovered and closed down a sewing shop used for the manufacture of counterfeit clothes bearing the marks of leading sportswear brands.

During the raid, the police authorities discovered and seized more than 500 ready-made waterproof nylon jackets, 37 sewing machines and 1,500 pieces of fabric that were to be used for the subsequent manufacture of fake goods.

The sewing shop owner was a 33-year-old man of Asian origin, who had no legal documents related to the clothes-manufacturing business. Twenty-nine illegal immigrants from Southeast Asia worked and lived in the shop.
