During regular controls at Romania’s border crossings in the period between August 26 and September 3, 2010, the customs officials seized a considerable quantity of goods bearing the labels of well-known brands, believed to be counterfeit, worth approximately EUR 304,000 (USD 388,000).
On August 26, the customs officials at the port of Constanta, on the western coast of the Black Sea, seized 3,025 T-shirts, 1,200 pairs of women’s boots, 330 men’s parkas, 1,200 pieces of underwear and 255 women’s lingerie pieces, bearing the marks of Disney, Coca Cola, Gucci, Burberry, G-Star, D&G and Calvin Klein. The goods were discovered in a container originating in China and intended for companies in Romania and Moldova.
On September 3, the customs inspectors in Giurgiu, southern Romania, seized 126 perfume bottles and 260 clothing articles bearing the marks of Hugo Boss and Giorgio Armani. The goods were discovered in a bus traveling from Turkey to Romania.
