Serbian Customs, Police Seize Counterfeit Apparel, Footwear

On October 20, in a joint action, Serbian police and customs authorities discovered and seized 20 sweat suits, 100 sweatshirts and sweatpants, and over 4,000 pairs of socks believed to infringe the IP rights of the world’s leading apparel makers, including Adidas and Versace. The goods were seized in the town of Bogutovac, west-central Serbia, after an inspection of two express mail vehicles.

On October 24-25, the Serbian customs officials seized a considerable amount of counterfeit goods after inspecting two express mail vehicles on the Belgrade-Nis highway. The officials discovered 40 jackets bearing the mark of Adidas, 45 sweatpants bearing the mark of another leading sportswear manufacturer, 50 blouses, an unidentified number of fur vests and sweaters, 19 mobile phones, five TVs, 34 sweat suits bearing the marks of Chanel and Adidas, among others, and 43 pairs of shoes and sneakers bearing the marks of CAT and Timberland, among others.
