Bulgarian Customs Seize Counterfeit Apparel, Footwear, Perfumes, Toys
During regular controls at Bulgaria’s border crossings, the customs officials recently seized a considerable quantity of goods bearing well-known brand names, believed to be counterfeit.
A total of 19,039 items (apparel, footwear, accessories) were seized at the Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border-crossing checkpoint with Greece, in a truck with Bulgarian license plates, travelling to Slovakia. The seized items bore 30 different marks, including Burberry, Armani, Polo, Philipp Plein, Gant, Nike, and G-Star.
On a different occasion, at the same border crossing point, the customs officials seized 5,582 counterfeit toy sets, bearing Barbie, Disney and Nickelodeon marks, in a truck with Bulgarian license plates, bound for Spain.
The customs officials at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint, southeastern Bulgaria, seized 1,900 perfumes, bearing the marks of Gucci, Armani and D&G among others, in a bus travelling from Turkey to Romania.
Additional 800 perfumes were seized at a border crossing point between Romania and Bulgaria. After searching a minivan with Polish license plates, the officials discovered perfumes bearing the marks of Lacoste, Versace, Chanel, Paco Rabanne, Hugo Boss, Christian Dior, Gucci, Carolina Herrera, Giorgio Armani and Davidoff, all believed to be counterfeit.
